What does a TrippLite UPS do?
UPS systems are a battery backup for your computer, server, or office. They remain charged and ready while the power's on, but should it get interrupted, they can smoothly and seamlessly switch to backup without ever losing power. They also absorb any power surges that might accompany a blackout and later re-connection. The length of the backup time varies from unit to unit, but it gives you time to save files, update your backups, and keep things running while main power is restored.

What is the runtime expected?
The runtime entirely depends on the size of the battery, and how much equipment is attached to it. For all intents and purposes, you can as much runtime as you want, from twenty minutes to several hours, simply by paying for a bigger battery. An external battery pack can also be attached to these UPS systems to provide further power protection.
