ADTRAN’s NetVanta 1535P Switch Named Finalist For Product of the Year Award

Simi Valley, CA - November 14th, 2012 - Hummingbird Networks has named ADTRAN's NetVanta 1535P 28-port managed Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) switch with ActivReach as a finalist for its Networking Product of the Year Award.

The products are judged according to the following criteria:  Ease of integration, functionality, manageability, performance, innovation, and value.

"ADTRAN has set the standard for innovation and creativity with next generation switching products”, said John Ciarlone, Vice President at Hummingbird Networks.  This selection is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators. The range of impressive features that the NetVanta 1535P provides made it a stand out product that was selected to be among the elite group of finalists for the award.”

The NetVanta 1535P - designed with an eye towards VoIP enablement and network flexibility - incorporates ADTRAN's powerful ActivReach Ethernet technology, offering significant advancements over traditional Ethernet and PoE capabilities. “The flexibility of ActivReach Ethernet technology allows it to break down existing cabling and distance constraints and truly unlock the power of Ethernet for a variety of voice and data applications”, said Patrick Price, Product Manager for Enterprise Switches at ADTRAN.  The 1535P takes full advantage of ActivReach, making it capable of delivering network connectivity and power to devices over a variety of cable environments—CAT5, CAT3 or even legacy copper. In addition, ActivReach Ethernet allows the 1535P to increase the standard range of network segments from the normal 100 meters to over 365 meters without the use of fiber or Ethernet repeaters.

The NetVanta 1535P is capable of operating at the traditional 10/100/1000 Base-T standard and seamlessly integrates with existing network solutions.  To make things even more convenient, ActivReach, configurable per-port, allows 10/100 Mbps networks to be designed utilizing legacy voice-grade copper or CAT3 through the use of a media converter which is powered by PoE. This allows network administrators to take full advantage of their existing infrastructure, eliminating the need for expensive re-cabling, the installation of fiber, or Ethernet repeaters.
